One of the great new features that appeared since the iPhone X is Face ID.
This not only makes the unlocking process of your iPhone a lot easier since there’s no button to press or fingerprint to check (with the previous Touch ID) but also makes your iPhone X and above models a lot more secure.
According to Apple, there’s a 1 in 50,000 chance that someone else’s fingerprint will falsely unlock your iPhone and a 1 in 1,000,000 chance that someone else’s face will do it.
Another layer of security related to the Face ID feature is to have to look at your iPhone to unlock it.
This can be great if you’re concerned about false unlocking situations or if someone would try to unlock your iPhone with a photo of you (although this is much more complex than most people think as the sensors on your iPhone will check your face features in depth, not just in appearance).
What if you prefer to unlock your iPhone with your face but without having to look at it?
Fortunately, you can tweak this by going to Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Require Attention for Face ID.
By simply turning this option off, you’ll be able to unlock your iPhone with Face ID but it won’t require you to look at it directly.
Voila!
