You probably already know about the “Do Not Disturb” mode on iPhone but did you know you can specify only until the end of your upcoming Calendar event?
This feature allows you to set it in accordance with a specific event, in this case, the upcoming one which can be something you’re doing that requires no distractions or a meeting or anything else that matters to you.
While you can access the “Do Not Disturb” mode on the iPhone by going to Settings > Do Not Disturb and turn it ON, there’s a much easier, faster and better way to use it:
- Use your finger to pull down from the top-right corner of your iPhone to reveal the “Control Centre”
- Tap and hold (holding is the key here) on the “Do Not Disturb” icon (looks like a moon)
- You’ll be prompted with 4 options, “For 1 hour”, “Until tomorrow morning”, “Until I leave this location” (you’ll see the location where you are at this point in time) and “Until the end of this event” (it will show your upcoming Calendar event underneath)
- Choose your preferred option but the one that is the subject of this article is the last one, which will enable you to forget about it as it disables itself at the end of your event
Why isn’t this an option in the calendar entry itself?
Hi S,
Thanks for your question.
We believe it’s a feature that pertains to the entire iPhone to disable any notifications and to avoid being disturbed so instead of being an option within the calendar only, it’s available to the entire device then you can choose if it’s linked to something else such as a specific time, a location or the end of your upcoming Calendar event.
Thanks,
If I have more than one calendar and more than one account in Calendar app, what qualifies as “this event”? Thank you! I’ve noticed, that the Focus defaults to “no focus” after the event. It does not default to the focus I have scheduled. Very inconvenient.
Hi Jan,
Thank you for your question.
We have blacked out the description underneath “Until the end of this event” on our screenshot for privacy reasons but regardless of the number of calendars and accounts you have setup in your Apple Calendar app, it will automatically show you the one that is currently ongoing (if one event has already started) or the upcoming one.
If you give it a try and tap the 3 dots beside “Do not disturb”, the option “Until the end of this event” should show you which one has been selected for you.
There are 4 “Do not disturb” options available in total, hopefully one of them will suit your needs!
Thanks,
